Tequila Mexican Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Tequila Mexican Restaurant in Freeburg feels like discovering a welcoming corner tucked away from the busier stretches of town—a relaxed spot that invites you to slow down and settle in. The space opens up with a warm, spacious interior that balances casual comfort with touches of vibrant character, making it a place where both friends and families can comfortably unwind. When the sun sets, the outdoor patio offers a breezy alternative, complete with the soft hum of neighborhood life and the occasional cheer from the mounted TVs, lending an easygoing, communal vibe.
The rhythm here is unhurried but attentive, with staff who move seamlessly between tables, bringing a warmth that feels genuine rather than routine. It’s one of those places where the service feels like you’re catching up with longtime acquaintances rather than simply ordering a meal. This familiarity extends to the food, too—rooted in classic Mexican flavors with enough variety to keep the experience fresh on every visit.
Chips and salsa arrive fresh and inviting, hinting at the quality and care that continues with each dish. Whether it’s the comforting richness of a juicy, meat-filled enchiladas trio or the satisfying heft of a well-stacked fajita taco salad, every bite carries a sense of home-style cooking. Dishes arrive accompanied by traditional sides like seasoned rice and beans, adding to the fullness of the experience without overwhelming the palate.
Desserts like the warm churros dusted with cinnamon and chocolate or the crisp-coated deep fried ice cream provide a sweet finish that lingers in memory long after the meal concludes. For those drawn to lively flavors, the drink menu—with its range of margaritas and classic Mexican beers—complements the meal perfectly, inviting moments to linger over conversation.
For locals and visitors alike, Tequila Mexican Restaurant isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to connect. Over time, it has cultivated a sense of belonging where meals are shared, stories are exchanged, and every return feels like a familiar embrace. Here, the balance of good food, thoughtful service, and a relaxed atmosphere paints a picture of authentic Mexican dining without pretense—just a quiet celebration of flavor and togetherness.

We have been happily eating here for years now. The service is consistently great. The food is consistently great. This week we had their new Poblano Burrito though… it was so good I thought i should finally leave a review for this place. You need to try it!!!

This is a chain Mexican restaurant in the STL area, I’ve been to 4 different locations and this one is clearly the best. Food is always better here, the service is outstanding, and they’re quick. Chips and salsa are good which is usually a pretty good indicator of what’s to come. Monster burrito w/steak is my usual go-to. Recommended.

Quaint Mexican cuisine restaurant tucked quietly into the corner of a plaza. The inside was eye catching and spacious. We were seated out on the spacious patio(by request). It was after sunset so there were a LOT of bugs but no bug catchers. There were TV's on the patio also. The waitress was lively and welcoming and very attentive. We ordered drinks and appetizers. They were A- Plus. The entrees were large and delicious. The steak my fiance ordered was lacking flavor and was a little disappointing. The fajitas were nice and filling and the wings were good. I would return if in the area again.

Best margaritas, wide selection of DELICIOUS food, and the absolute best staff. When you’re here, you are family.

Another great find! The food was delicious and we were really happy with the service. Prices were as expected, between $10 and $20 on average for dinner per person, but totally worth it. Nice atmosphere and plenty of parking were just a bonus; we'll definitely be back again!

Always has amazing and fresh food: I've never gotten sick or disappointed by it. The waiters are friendly and check up frequently. Sometimes the food takes a while but it's usually because of the crowd, and it's worth the wait. The inside decor is very nice & contributes to a very themed atmosphere. I like to watch the little fish swim around.

Very tasty food. I had the speedy gonzales and husband the taco salad. Chips where good, especially considering the late hour we ate in. Our waitress was super friendly and the price not too bad.
